chaotic intransient prose bursts: ecto is here!

ecto beta version 0.1.6 is now available for download. This version will expire at the end of January, 2004. This is the first public release of ecto. The previous versions were only open to a selected few, including those who have donated to Kung-Log in the past.

ecto キター。何気なく Kung-Log のページをチェックしに行ったら、どうやら ecto という "The next generation blogging client" を開発しているとのことで、すでに public beta バージョンが出ていました。早速 ecto で投稿中。インタフェースがだいぶ変わってます。Kung-Log よりもコンパクトですっきりまとまっていて、使いやすい!

ファイルのアップロードのインタフェースもすごく良くなりました。(Kung-Log のときからそうでしたが、ecto はサムネイルを作る機能を自分で持っているので、サーバに Image::Magick が入っていなくてもサムネイルを作ることができたりするのは、ちょっとしたポイントです。ファイルをドラッグアンドドロップで追加できたりとか。)

さて、この ecto ですが、

の中に "we also have a Windows version in the works" とあります。キター。開発者の Adriaan Tijsseling 氏は今日本に居ます。

After that, I was a postdoc at the Rutgers University in Newark, NJ, did software development at a Manhattan dot-com, and then another postdoc at AIST, Tsukuba, Japan. Since summer '03, I'm employed by Joichi Ito, working on a variety of projects that are all internet-related and include server-side, client-side and mobile development.

ということで、国際化の方も期待できるでしょう。ようやく、Windows で使える日本語可能な blogging client の本命が登場しそうです。
