With a couple of new elements you can describe photos and point to both thumbnail and full size images in a way that computers and people can both understand and use.
Pheed なんていう XML フォーマットがあるみたい。(via C O U L D) RSS 2.0 をモジュール拡張して、写真入りのアイテムを表現するってことかな。仕様は Pheed RSS Specification から。

名前空間 photo は pheed 拡張モジュールにより RSS 2.0 を拡張したエレメント。thumbnail はサムネイルの URL、imgsrc は画像の URLを表現する。サムネイルの大きさは 120 ピクセルが最大と決めているらしい。どちらも required だそうで。
ぱっと見 RSS にこの pheed モジュール拡張だけ施した物の感じがしますが、Pheed では名前空間 dc で始まる Dublin Core 拡張にもちょっとした意味づけがされているようです。dc:coverage は "The location represented by the image. Be as specific as you can." で、dc:format は "The format of the original media of the photograph" みたいな感じです。
RSS 2.0拡張でやってるみたいだけど、モジュールによる拡張のみで対応しているので RSS 1.0 でも同じようにやってやれば良さそうな気もする。
Pheed で表現された情報だけで、こんなページ (People photographs) が構成できるようです。
